One marriage tilts the city- Chapter 6

Since I'd just had sex with Fang Yin last night, my chest felt tight and my mind was a mess.

At that moment, the air seemed to freeze into ice.

I had never thought that Fang Yin would be my husband's superior. How was I going to explain this to him when we got home?

I thought Ling Feng would pull me away, but his emotions were calm beyond my imagination. After saying a few polite words, he walked out, completely ignoring me.

After he left, Fang Yin placed his hand on the dining table and lifted the corner of his mouth. His eyes were filled with contempt. "You may not know this, but he used his wife to get this project."

His words sent my emotions into a tailspin. My mind was filled with a myriad of thoughts and I was drowning in disappointment.

Ling Feng came home late that night. He reeked of cigarettes, alcohol and inferior perfume. As soon as he got home, he sat on the sofa and smoked.

When I thought about how he had to work in Fang Yin's company and how he had to be restrained, I felt even more stifled.

"Husband." I hesitated for a while. Then I picked up a piece of pastry from the table and handed it to him. "How about ... you change your job?"

When he heard that, he lifted his head. His eyes were bloodshot. He jumped up and slapped me across the face.

The slap went from my ear canal to my head, making me dizzy. A fishy taste filled my mouth. My cheeks burned and my mind went blank.

Blue veins bulged on his forehead and his hands clenched into fists.

His face was sombre. I was so shocked that I forgot to breathe.

At that moment, the atmosphere was tense. Suddenly the door opened and Granny's voice came from the entrance. "Sigh, I'm so tired. I brought a lot of things this time. Moxin, come and help me carry them."

Ling Feng and I pretended not to hear her. We stood rooted to the spot like two pieces of wood. When Granny came to us with all the bags, she could tell that something was wrong.

She furrowed her brow and pushed Ling Feng onto the sofa. She scolded him, "I have been teaching you since you were young. Only the most useless man in the world would hit his wife!" However, she didn't look like she blamed him.

Then she took some toilet paper and wiped my face. She told me to go to the bathroom and wash the blood off my nose. I went back to the bedroom with a heavy heart. I had a feeling that Fang Yin was telling the truth.

The moment I entered the bedroom, I smelled Lin Keke's unique scent. I fought off the nausea and wanted to lie down. As I lifted the blanket, a bright red lipstick stain caught my eye. There was also a strand of hair about a centimetre long.

I laughed at myself.

Lin Keke was interested in Ling Feng, and Ling Feng was an ordinary man. A man and a woman in the same room...

Once I had this thought, I couldn't stop it. In the end, I couldn't hold back my nausea. I grabbed the sheets and went to the guest room.

After that night, I began to seriously suspect that Ling Feng had sent me to his superior's bed. The following days were heartbreaking.

Ling Feng ignored me and Granny's attitude changed. When I came home from work, Granny gave me a lot of chores to do. I didn't even have time to prepare for class. When I cooked, Granny would complain that this dish was too salty and that dish was too spicy. She would find fault with the food I cooked.

And under the premise that I had done something wrong, I could only swallow my anger.

One morning I got up late and bought soy milk and fried dough sticks for breakfast. As soon as Grandma entered the kitchen, she began to scold me. "It's not like you will lose a piece of meat if you get up early to make breakfast. It's okay if you're lazy, but you've been married for three years and your stomach hasn't moved at all. Why did our Ling family marry a hen who can't lay eggs?

When I heard this, I felt angry. I furrowed my brow and replied, "I bought it with my own money.
